Shishō (師匠?), oshishō (お師匠?), oshishō-san (お師匠さん?), and oshishō-sama (お師匠さま?) are Japanese titles used to refer to or address teachers or masters of traditional Japanese arts including, but not limited to noh, shamisen, koto, ikebana, shodo, and Japanese martial arts.
The word is combination of the kanji shi (師?), meaning "teacher", and shō (匠?), meaning "craftsman".
