The following is a list of episodes for the anime television series Honey and Clover, based on the manga of the same name by Chika Umino. The series depicts the lives and relationships of five students at a Tokyo art college, four of whom live in the same apartment building. The television series was produced by J.C.Staff and consists of 38 episodes broadcast in two seasons on Fuji TV in the Noitamina programming block.[1] The first season was directed by Ken'ichi Kasai, and consisted of 24 episodes that aired from 14 April 2005 and 29 September 2005 plus two DVD-only episodes released on volumes 5 and 7 of the DVDs. The second season was directed by Tatsuyuki Nagai, and consisted of 12 episodes that aired between 29 June 2006 and 14 September 2006.[2]

Both seasons were rebroadcast in Japan by the anime CS television network Animax, which also later broadcast the series across its respective networks in Hong Kong, Taiwan, South Korea, and other regions. The series was first broadcast in English on Amimax's Southeast Asia network starting 1 August 2006.[3][4]

Most episodes titles are a quote or paraphrase from the episode's dialogue. The preview teaser before the episode often adds a second "title". In the following list, the title listed on the official website is listed first, followed by the title given in the teaser, if available.

Yūta Takemoto, a second-year student at an art school, desperate tries to wake up sixth-year student, Shinobu Morita, for school, in order to prevent Shinobu from repeating yet another school year. Later on, Yūta and Takumi Mayama, a fourth-year student, are introduced to Hagumi "Hagu" Hanamoto by Shūji Hanamoto, her father's cousin. However, Shinobu also meets Hagu, causing him to constantly take pictures of her.

Yūta and Takumi soon discover Hagu's artistic talents. They, as well as Hagu, discover Shinobu's website which contains a collection of pictures featuring Hagu. Hagu gets upset and throws random objects at Shinobu, which included her wish list. Meanwhile, Yūta plans to throw a teppanyaki party. Later, after his job, Shinobu spots one of the items from Hagu's list, a pair of patent pink mules, in a store and buys it as a present for Hagu. Shinobu arrives back in a drowsy state and gives two bags of meat for Yūta's party, as well as the mules for Hagu. Hagu is delighted and Shinobu faints from exhaustion from his job. Yūta offers to carry him home and suddenly notices his feelings towards Hagu on the way back.

It is late summer. Yūta, Takumi, and Shinobu are coming back from an evening bath when Yūta receives a phone call from Hagu inviting them all over for dinner the next evening. Takumi and Shinobu decide not to go, leaving Yūta to have dinner with Hagu and Shūji. Meanwhile, Takumi has developed feelings for Rika Harada, an older woman who is good friends with Hanamoto, and is also Takumi's boss. Ayumi Yamada, a friend of Takumi who has a crush on him, finds out about this and publicly chastises him for it. Later, Ayumi approaches Takumi and asks why he works for Rika without mentioning his feelings for Rika. However, Takumi coldly tells Ayumi that she should find another guy. Ayumi is deeply hurt and cries about it to Shinobu.

Takumi continues to battle over his feelings for Rika and his feelings for Ayumi. Meanwhile, Hagu is overwhelmed by other people's expectations of her artistic ability. The next day, Shinobu invites Yūta, Takumi, Hagu, Shūji, and Ayumi to a Christmas party. Yūta and Hagu go Christmas shopping, and it is revealed that Yūta does not really like Christmas. Takumi visits Rika and learns that she is going out with Shūji. The night of the Christmas party comes, and everyone has a good time. Takumi arrives late, and the party has become a little crazy. Takumi steps out to meet Shūji, and asks where Rika is. Shūji replies that she is at her husband's, meaning that Rika is visiting the grave of her husband. Hagu interrupts their conversation, and Takumi and Shūji join the party. At the end of the party, Takumi stays to clean up, and Shūji takes everyone else home. Takumi stands by the window and thinks wistfully of Rika, and then Ayumi. Shinobu startles Takumi out of his reverie, and the two drink. Yūta is asleep, dreaming of a happy Christmas with himself and Hagu.

Yūta goes home to visit Mitsuko Aida, his mother, for the first time in a while. Yūta's father died years before, and Yūta does not like Kazuo Aida, his mother's love interest. While visiting, Yūta realizes that Kazuo is not a replacement for his father, but someone to care for Mitsuko. He finds a respect for Kazuo. Later, Shūji takes Yūta, Hagu, Shinobu, and Ayumi on a trip. Takumi is invited as well, but comes later.

Yūta, Hagu, Shinobu, Takumi, Ayumi, and Shūji go to the zoo. Shūji talks to Takumi and tells him about Rika's husband. Shūji lived with Rika her husband, and was very close to both of them. When Rika's husband was killed in an accident, Shūji took care of Rika, as she suffered major injuries in the accident. Shūji also tells Takumi that Rika is hiring someone to replace Takumi. This is because Rika believes Takumi will get the job he applied for, but it is also because she has feelings for him, and it is too painful to have him around her. Later, Ayumi decides to stay at the school as a graduate student. Takumi is notified that he has received a job at the place he applied to. Yūta, Hagu, Shinobu, Takumi, Ayumi, and Shūji have a party to celebrate. Takumi carries a drunken Ayumi home on his back and tells her that he thought she would leave if he turned her down. Ayumi begins crying and tells him she loves him.

Shūji is offered to travel with his old teacher for one year to gather research and survey material for a new book, and offers to bring Hagu along for the trip. Hagu refuses, stating she won't be lonely because she now has friends, which is a stark contrast to Shūji's recollection of Hagu's life prior to coming to the art school. Meanwhile, Takumi bids Rika farewell when she learns he has been hired and started working at the Fujiwara Design Office, promising he would be back one day. Before Shūji's farewell party, Hagu tries to find a four-leaf clover to give Shūji as a good luck charm, to which everyone coincidentally passes by and helps out to find. Ultimately, they are unsuccessful, although Shūji's appreciates the effort and Yūta cherishes the memory of that day.

Ayumi has moved in with Hagu, and the two invite Yūta, Shinobu, and Takumi over for a strange dinner. It's shown to humorous effect that Hagu and Shūji greatly miss each other. After dinner, Takumi asks why they are gathered together, and no one seems to know. Yūta replies that it's his birthday, and everyone is very embarrassed. They all attempt to make up for it. Shinobu makes a Twister mat and cards with too many colors, and he and Yūta become hopelessly entangled in it. Shinobu makes a joke about Takumi's stalking, and Takumi leaves. Ayumi sees him off. After Takumi has left, Ayumi looks up at the sky and wonders how to give up on Takumi, and whether it's worth it. Takumi, meanwhile, sits and stares at Rika's window. The next day, Ayumi has to leave Hagu alone in the apartment for a night. Yūta remembers that he made it through his first night alone because of his friends, so he goes to visit Hagu. The two sit and talk late into the night.

Shinobu makes and discreetly gives Hagu a brooch she wanted, while Yūta fights feelings of jealousy and whether or not to tell Hagu who gave the brooch to her. Ayumi also thanks Shinobu for bailing her out of a situation where she awkwardly tried to casually say that she loves Takumi. Christmas arrives, and Hagu begins her first part-time job by helping Ayumi in the local shopping district. Yūta is asked to help with decorations when Hagu and the shopping district try to win back business from a competing supermarket chain, and Yūta has a change of heart over how he feels about Christmas. He also attempts to tell Hagu about the brooch during the ensuing Christmas party, but is interrupted by Shinobu who tells Hagu herself that there's no deep meaning to it.

After the school festival and Christmas passes by, the entire group goes on an outing by going on a water taxi ride along the Sumida River. On there, Takumi reveals to Yūta he knows about Yūta's feelings toward Hagu and tells him to not give up. Their day continues when they arrive at the Kasai Seaside Park, only to find it largely deserted due to the season. They ride the Ferris wheel there, but end up in awkward seating arrangements due to Shinobu's antics. On the water taxi ride back, Yūta ponders about the group's situation and how the new year will be like.

Yūta and Ayumi talk about Takumi's future and how Hagu has grown before they are interrupted by Shūji's sudden and early return from his trip to Mongolia. Everyone then gathers at night to hear about Shūji and his teacher's trip. The next day, Hagu goes out shopping with Shinobu for art supplies due to everyone else being busy. Hagu wrests with her feelings for Shinobu as he treats her coldly the entire day. Eventually, Hagu returns and cries to Shūji, nearly regressing to the past where she only trusts Shūji.

It is spring again. The whole group attend the annual school festival. Some of them tell stories about what happened recently to them, while others think of their loved ones. Later on the next day, Hagu is still in an uncomfortable mood. She went out to buy tobacco for Shūji and took a look of cherry blossoms for awhile. Shinobu suddenly appears in his eccentric behavior, giving her his scarf and kissing her unconsciously. He ran away the moment he realized what he had just done. Hagu was quite shocked after that and she got a fever which, according to Shūji, is often caused to her by stress. Shūji told Yūta about Hagu's uncomfortable feelings while going out with Shinobu last time, and he said she did not realize that was because she liked him. Yūta, feeling depressed, comes back home, finding the person responsible for summoning Shinobu to work, who is seen breaking into Shinobu's overly secured room. The room shockingly resembled that of a master control room. This mysterious person then finds Shinobu's passport, in order to be delivered to the airport. He then tells Yūta that Shinobu is about to go to Los Angeles for six months for a job. Yūta jumps into the car with him to go to airport but he could not make it in time to bid Shinobu farewell. The person is later revealed to be Shinobu's older brother, Kaoru Morita, who also portrays eccentricity. Yūta and Kaoru if Shinbou will return, and in turn, Kaoru asks Yūta whether or not he wants Shinobu to return.

Yūta, Shinobu, Takumi, and Shūji all reminisce about Lohmeyer, a friend of theirs. In a flashback, it is revealed that he is a large, bulky guy, and known for his generosity and his kindness. He brings tons of meat to them, as the four happily ask for more. Until one day, Lohmeyer disappears, leaving the four in major depression and sorrow. In the present, Yūta and Takumi go to an amusement park. Takumi explains the history and design of the amusement park as well as its mascot, leaving Yūta in total shock. The suit of the mascot, ironically, was worn by Lohmeyer at the time. Takumi says that Lohmeyer as the mascot attracted many of the adults more than the children, because of his personality. Yūta then wonders about Lohmeyer as the mascot of the amusement park. However, Yūta, Hagu, Takumi, and Ayumi are surprised to discover that Shinobu is the new wearer of the suit of the mascot.

Yūta later announced the news about Shinobu leaving to Los Angeles to Hagu and the rest. Later, they all went to Shinobu's room, since the door was destroyed by Kaoru. Yūta asked Hagu whether or not she wants Shinobu to return, but her stern and straightforward answer before was really hurting him. The story mainly talked about Ayumi and her feelings later on. To save money, Takumi asked Ayumi to help making some artwork for his firm's project. Yūta, seeing Hagu all fired up creating her latest work, reminded him of Shinobu's dedication in his work. Ayumi invites Hagu along with the gang to the fireworks display that will be taking place that evening. Both Hagu and Ayumi choose their yukatas for the event. Later that evening, Ayumi, being conscious with her look, revealed that she just wanted Takumi to compliment her on her yukata.

Takumi dreams of Rika. One of his co-workers, Miwako Teshigawara, says that when one dreams of another, it is because the person in the dream wants them to meet so much that the soul escapes the body and comes to the dream. Takumi was in doubt about that, but on the way back home from a meeting, he and his other co-workers, Takumi Nomiya and Kazushi Yamazaki, passed by a park where Rika was just behind a fountain watching him passing by. Takumi didn't notice until later on. However, when he ran back to the fountain, she was not there anymore. Later, everyone at Takumi's workplace began talking about Rika's deceased husband, seemingly making Takumi realize that he was the only one who did not know Rika's husband personally. Nomiya mentions Ayumi, implying that he wants to meet her. Takumi then leaves the office, only to go to the festival with Yūta, Hagu, Ayumi, and Shūji. He was followed later by Nomiya, Yamazaki, and Miwako, much to his chagrin.

Takumi's work is going well with his co-workers. Miwako noticed how well Takumi and Nomiya potted bowls. But this leads to Takumi discussing to his co-workers about his feelings toward Ayumi. Yet he still misses Rika. Takumi and Nomiya head over to Ayumi's room, after they had finished their work for the day. They start gathering Ayumi's pottery to display at an art exhibition. However, Miwako calls Takumi to urgently come back to the office, concerning a scale model for a meeting the next day, as it has been accidentally broken. After noticing that Takumi left his coat at her place, Ayumi reminisces with her time with Takumi. Nomiya comes in, as Ayumi is in deep thought, which, in turn, startles her. Nomiya takes Ayumi out in the evening to eat. Furious, Takumi develops jealousy, as he finds out that Nomiya went out with her last night. Yet Ayumi becomes frustrated for his jealousy. Takumi converses with Shūji about Rika, but Takumi ends up walking back home, disappointed. He starts to reminisce about Rika again, when suddenly he gets a call that Asai, Rika's current assistant, suddenly has health problems and needs to stay in the hospital. Takumi meets Asai in the hospital, and he finds out that Rika is also in the hospital. He asks her if he can come back to him, but she rejects him. However, Takumi reluctantly offers her a ride home.

Nomiya tells Miwako that the firm will split into two locations. One will stay in Tokyo, while the other will move to Tottori. Nomiya intentionally wants Takumi to go to the firm in Tottori. At the same time, Asai is still in the hospital and Rika hasn't been able to find a replacement for him. Hence, Takumi decides to leave the firm and comes back to work with Rika at the Harada Design Office, without much of asking for her permission. Ayumi was acknowledged about this two weeks later through Nomiya, resulting in her depression. Later on, Ayumi tells the others that four guys, who were childhood friends of hers, proposed to her at a shopping district, but she chose to run away from them. Shūji later on explained to Ayumi that her situation with Takumi was similar than that of the four guys who proposed to her. Shūji tells her that in the case of one loving someone who doesn't love another, people could just choose either to try or give up. He advises her to tell the four guys her true feelings. When Ayumi leave, Shūji's thoughts reveal a third choice, but he would never speak it out.

Having lost Takumi from the Fujiwara Design Office, Miwako expresses her depression by buying a massage chair for their new office. Ayumi, who was brooding over the proposal of her childhood friends, confronts them and turns them down properly, later wishing for their own happiness while selling cakes with Hagu. Meanwhile, Yūta is being depressed from the fact that he has not realized yet what his goal in life really is, giving him trouble on his job applications. He then took down the artwork he made for the art exhibition, much to a surprise for the others. His depression made the opening of their Christmas party a little dull, but Shūji's antics made things lively. Rebuilding another artwork for his graduation art project, Yūta suddenly collapses and is brought to the hospital to be diagnosed for an ulcer. Visited by Mitsuko and Kazuo, he decides to stay and study for another year. Yūta was about to confess his feelings to Hagu when they were interrupted by Shūji, who has brought him a handheld television. What they saw on television totally surprises them.

Shinobu, airing on television in a startling appearance, is given an Academy Award. After making a ruckus on the hospital ward, they were shocked to see Shinobu on the bed right beside Yūta. The next day, they return to the hospital, only to see Shinobu well. After Shūji drags Shinobu away for his thesis, Ayumi asks Takumi about his work, realizing that she herself is being hurt from the fact that only Takumi and Rika are working together. Later, Shinobu was given a heavy lecture by Professor Tange, but still ends up graduating due to his graduation thesis being finished and submitted in time, being that his work was a self-portrayed hand-made sculpture made of gold. But he returns later, enrolled as a third-year student in the Japanese painting department.

Before Takumi starting working at the Fujiwara Design Office, Miwako becomes upset to see Yamazaki in a fashion magazine. It is explained that Miwako bought a shirt for Yamazaki as a practical joke device. However, the shirt seems to suit him well. Each day, Miwako attempts to give Yamazaki another shirt as a practical joke device, but she again fails to humiliate him, seeing him displayed the same fashion magazine. After Shinobu returned from America, Takumi plays shogi with Shūji. When Yūta and Hagu arrive, they all converse about Ayumi in parties. It is explanied that Ayumi is the most attractive girl in every party, but she experiences love sickness after becoming drunk. Moreover, Takumi becomes responsible for caring for Ayumi after every party. They then talk about Takumi time in the office. It is explained that Yamazaki was invited to a party. Miwako still becomes obsessed in trying to humiliate Yamazaki, only for him to be invited to many parties due to his popularity. Takumi and Shūji, not realizing that Yūta and Hagu both departed, ended up calling it a night, only to see Shinobu right in front of them.

Takumi arrives at the Fujiwara Design Office, only to found out that Ayumi is there. After she leaves abruptly, Takumi mistakes Nomiya's business interest with Ayumi for his love interest. Takumi then goes to the apartment to meet up with Yūta and Shinobu. When the three gather to eat dinner prepared by Shinobu, Yūta reminicses over the time when Shinobu departed to America. The following night, Takumi meets up with Yūta, Shinobu, Ayumi, Shūji, Yamazaki, and Miwako at the annual school festival. Later after the festival, Ayumi agrees to go with Nomiya, after she had an argument with Takumi. However, Ayumi begins to have second thoughts about going out with Nomiya, as she faces the truth about her relationship with Takumi told by Nomiya. Meanwhile, at the Fujiwara Design Office, Yamazaki and Miwako talk with Shinobu and Takumi about Nomiya. Miwako explains to Takumi that he and Nomiya are alike in personality, which makes Takumi frustrated. Nomiya and Ayumi bought food at a pastry shop. Nomiya brings her to the sight of a Ferris wheel at his place, while Ayumi reminisces over her time with Takumi in the Ferris wheel. Ayumi then admits that Nomiya was right about her relationship with Takumi, causing her to cry. The next morning, Ayumi is shocked to have slept overnight with Nomiya, but Nomiya calms her down by offering her a ride on the Ferris wheel.

Nomiya calls Yamazaki and Miwako to the office early in the morning to assist a drunken Ayumi to her father's house. Later on, Shinobu meets up with Takumi, and Shinobu tells Takumi that he wants to visit the office again sometime. Takumi views pictures of Ferris wheels taken by Nomiya, noticing how much Ferris wheels meant to Nomiya. Shinobu finds Ayumi, having great concern over her. Shinobu then walks her to her house. The next day, Shūji explains to Yūta how he became a teacher. Yūta then tells Shūji that everyone except him has their future planned out, including Hagu. Shinobu becomes surprised that Hagu doesn't want her paintings to be displayed and shown in museums and art galleries. Shūji tells Shinobu that it is up to Hagu to do what she wants with her art, but Shūji questions himself if that is the right thing to do. At the office, Yamazaki and Miwako accuses Nomiya of having a perverted personality. However, Nomiya recalls that he was trying to change his ways until Takumi started working at the office, since Takumi had the same personality as him. Ayumi is seen by Professor Shōda, making pottery. She had made too much pottery, which Professor Shōda realized that something was troubling her.

Yūta meets with Shūji and a businessman. The businessman offers Yūta a job, and Yūta quickly accepts the job. Yūta celebrates this occasion with Yūta, Shinobu, Takumi, Hagu, Shūji, and Ayumi. However, the businessman had declared bankruptcy. Meanwhile, the Tottori firm joins back with the Tokyo firm, resulting in some unfinished work in the Fujiwara Design Office. Ayumi catches Nomiya before he walks out, dropping off some pottery at the office. Miwako tells Ayumi that Nomiya is headed over to the Tottori firm, which surprises Ayumi. Yūta disappears and hasn't returned back to the apartment in a few days, causing the others to be worried. Shūji concludes that Yūta wanted to be away for a while to find himself and that he will return within a few days. It is revealed that Shūji went away for a while to find himself in the past. Yūta ends up at a beach. He begins to worry about the others. Shinobu, Takumi, and Shūji set out to look for Yūta. Yūta seems to fear what will be his future.

Yūta travels to many houses to get water to drink. Miwako text messages for Ayumi to Nomiya, as she wonders how he is doing. Hagu believes that she is selfish for not displaying her paintings. Yūta is uncertain to return back to the apartment. Unfortunately, his bicycle breaks down when he passes by a temple. He meets with carpenters who restore temples and shrines. He decides to help them until he is able to buy a new bicycle. Shūji reveals to Hagu that Yūta reminds him when he was younger. Ayumi meets Rika for the first time, and she eventually starts to feel sorry for Rika.

Yūta cooks for the carpenter, and they seem to like the food he prepares. Yūta calculates that he will work for ten days until he is able to buy a new bicycle. Meanwhile at the Fujiwara Design Office, Rika ask if Ayumi could work with her, since she takes an interest in Ayumi's pottery. Takumi becomes worried when he hears the news. Yūta reluctantly wants to stay with the carpenters, since they love his cooking. He gradually starts finding himself after bonding with the carpenters. One of the carpenters lends Yūta his bicycle as well as a map, giving Yūta quite a surprise. The carpenters say farewell to Yūta, as he starts to ride back to the apartment.

Yūta views the map the night before he starts traveling the next morning. He comes across a store near a school, and ends up eating sweet rolls. The store owner talks to him about her time in America, offering him some corn for the trip afterward. Yūta reminisces about the time he wished he could go to America with his father. Not paying attention, he falls off his bicycle, but manages to get back on and continues on his journey back to the apartment. When he arrives home, he goes to see Hagu. Shūji goes to see Hagu shortly after, but finds out that both Yūta and Hagu are asleep. Yūta wakes up the next morning and receives a warm welcome from everyone. Yūta explains to them that he was simply trying to go on a journey, meeting people along the way. It is revealed that Yūta has been away for two months. Everyone goes to a harvest festival, and they all see the fireworks. After realizing that what he leaves behind can mean so much to him, Yūta admits his love for Hagu. As Yūta spends the night with all friends in the apartment, a four-leaf clover is secretly shown next to his bicycle.

Hagu starts hiccuping and Shūji helps her stop, using a technique, but fails. However, Shinobu shows up, causing her to repeatedly and rapidly hiccup a lot. Yūta arrives to help her, using another technique, and Hagu's hiccups stop. Ayumi turns in a project to Professor Shōda, which delighted him. Ayumi and Rika then celebrate for completing the project. Takumi shows hospitality Ayumi and Rika, allowing them to spend the night. The next morning, Kaoru meets up with Shinobu. Kaoru isn't satisfied to see Shinobu at the art school, even though Shinobu enjoys being there. Shūji explains to Ayumi that Rika talks less to people she like, giving examples of Takumi and himself. As Rika tells Ayumi that she should work full-time in pottery, Rika begins to hiccup. She tries using Shūji's technique, but fails. Later on, Takumi shows her another technique, stopping her hiccups. Takumi, Ayumi, Rika have dinner together. Ayumi tries to take her mind off of her love for Takumi.

Hagu views Ayumi's snow globe collection, given to her as souvenirs. Tamazaki discusses about Nomiya's feelings for Ayumi. At the Harada Design Office, Rika receives a fax that she will participate in a design competition in Spain for an art museum, which then agitates Takumi. Rika explains that Takumi will also participate as well. However, it would take a long time to sort out the paperwork needed to participate, so they are not able to go. Later, Takumi explains to Ayumi that Rika checks the weather forecast on her home town, Sapporo, since she hasn't been there in a long time. Nomiya calls Ayumi to ask how she is. At the Fujiwara Design Office, Miwako tells Nomiya that Ayumi went to Tottori to see him. The next day, Yamazaki takes Ayumi around town. Nomiya arrives, only to fall asleep in front of her. Nomiya takes Ayumi to see sand dunes in the morning. Nomiya expresses his love for Ayumi.

The art exhibition has begun again. Shūji think back to when Hagu decided not to submit her paintings in the previous art exhibition. Shūji tells Hagu of when he went to an art exhibition and purchased a postcard of a painting of the moonlight reflected on the sea. It reminded him of how Rika's husband die and how Rika got severely injured on the beach under the moonlight. Shūji reminisces about his feelings for Rika. Takumi goes on a train with Rika to Sapporo, surprising her. After they both take a shower, they both go to sleep for the night. Once they have arrived, Takumi and Rika drive north to a barren land. Rika visits her father's gravestone, then she visits her dog's gravestone. She thanks Takumi for coming with her to Sapporo. Rika tries to sneak out of the hotel, making Takumi angry, but then he begins to sob, not wanting to lose sight of her. Takumi goes on an airplane back to Tokyo, while Rika goes on an airplane to Spain. At the Harada Design Office, Takumi noticed that the hotel room in Spain had two bedrooms, one for Takumi and one for Rika.

Miwao discusses about Ayumi's work in pottery, complimenting on her work. They go to a spa and resort to celebrate her accomplishment. Ayumi later notices that Miwako was trying to cheer her up, causing her to cry. Nomiya becomes worried that she is staying at Miwako's house. The next day Yūta is infuriated that Shinobu out his bread. However, Hagu offers to share some of her bread with him. Yūta declines, and Shinobu eats her bread instead. Soon after, Shinobu receive a call from Kaoru. Kaoru asks Shinobu to do one more job, which he hesitantly accepts. Yūta wants to get driver's license as soon as possible in order to work full-time with the carpenters he had met from his journey. Yūta asks Takumi why he still lives at the apartment, and Takumi says he is saving money for Rika. Ayumi waits in the Fujiwara Design Office for Miwako, but Nomiya unexpectedly visits. Ayumi starts to develop feelings for Nomiya.

Shinobu reminisces about his father when he was younger. Some students are preparing to submit their projects to Shinobu's father, however he decides to leave home early. He shows Shinobu and Kaoru one of his inventions, then they all eat curry for dinner. In the present, both Yūta and Hagu shows appreciation for art, wanting to do more with their art. At the Fujiwara Design Office, Takumi tells Nomiya, Miwako, and Yamazaki that Rika is in Spain participating in the design competition, working with another architect. Rika contacts Takumi to come to Spain. After Ayumi finds out the news, Nomiya catches up with her and consoles her. Shūji tells Shinobu that he needs to talk to Hagu, not to lose her as a friend. However, Shinobu refuses. Kaoru reminisces about his father when he was younger. His father paid more attention to Shinobu than to Kaoru, due to Shinobu's artistic talent. The next day, Ayumi plans everyone to go to the beach. However, since Takumi would be in Spain for a month, the plan didn't work out in the end.

Kaoru thinks about his father again. In a laboratory, his father shows one of his employees an invention, only to be disappointed at his reaction. Kaoru then thinks back to when Shinobu made a remote-controlled airplane, and their father was very proud of Shinobu. It is revealed that their father cares more for Shinobu than for Kaoru. Their uncle, their father's business partner, tells Kaoru than the father is very much like Shinobu, reckless and eccentric. Their uncle was diagnosed with a disease, restricting him from working. The uncle stops working alongside the father. Instead, he joins with another business, Floyd Electric. Floyd Electric comes to the laboratory to see the father. The father knew already that the uncle betrayed him. The uncle tells the father about his disease, and that if he were to die, all the rights to his money goes to Floyd Electric, not the father. Shinobu, Kaoru, and their father leaves the laboratory after all this. Shinobu wakes up from a dream of how Kaoru envied Shinobu and his father. A windstorm whooshes on the campus grounds during the art exhibition, and something unexpected happens.

Yūta tells Hagu that he wants to work with the carpenters, restoring temples and shrines. Hagu mentions that after graduation, everyone will part ways. The windstorm starts to whoosh when the art exhibition will soon start. Takumi meets with the Spanish architect, developing jealousy over him for Rika. Takumi is upset to find out that the hotel bedrooms were two separate rooms, not one room. The unexpected occurrence during the windstorm was that Hagu got severely injured outside the apartment. Everyone becomes very worried. Shinobu and Kaoru buys out Floyd Electric, making them in charge. Yūta says that Hagu was operated on her head and her right hand, having stitches for her injury. Yūta and Ayumi visit Hagu in the hospital, but Shūji asks then to leave. Shūji explains to Hagu that her stitches will come off in ten days, but she will remain in the hospital for two months and undergo physical therapy.

Kaoru explains his jealousy of Shinobu, and Shinobu questions Kaoru's jealousy. Shūji tells Yūta and Ayumi that Hagu isn't doing so well. She waiting a very long time to be able to have feeling in her right hand, since it was numb after her surgery. Shūji then tells them that Hagu might suffer sensory impairments in her right hand for the rest of her life, and that she might not be able to paint anymore. Ayumi tells Nomiya that she would want a cell phone in order to contact Hagu during her stay at the hospital. Ayumi sews a sweater for Hagu, and then visits her in the hospital. Shūji meets with the physical therapist, as she gives him instructions to massage Hagu's stiff upper body. Yūta and Ayumi go to a garden to pick flowers for Hagu, and they visit her again. Shūji tells Yūta and Ayumi that Hagu will gain her sense of feeling over time, however he says to them that they should be concentrating on their lives, and not Hagu's. Yūta is worried to leave Hagu after graduation, because he doesn't want to see her in pain and suffering. He wants to be able to help Hagu recover, but he is struggling to decide whether to help her or leave her.

Ayumi visits Hagu again, but Shūji took Hagu to do a contrast bath therapy session after her physical therapy session. The physical therapist tells Ayumi that Hagu is strong person, never giving up because of feeling pain. However, it is possible that Hagu may never be able to paint again, due to her condition. In Spain, Takumi goes out of his way to prevent the Spanish architect from seeing Rika. Shinobu, unexpected returns to go see Hagu, very worried about her condition. A jealous Yūta accidentally injures himself when he finds out that Ayumi caused Shinobu to return. Borrowing Ayumi's bicycle, he quickly rides to the hospital. Shūji tests Hagu's level of pain in her right hand. She doesn't cry like other children would, however Shūji tells that it is alright to cry. Hagu reminds herself that drawing was a part of her life. Later, Yūta arrives and finds Shūji to ask where Hagu is. After Shūji was uncertain, Yūta determined that Shinobu took her with him. At his place, Shinobu tries to comfort Hagu, kissing her. Meanwhile, Shūji tells Yūta that he will take a break from teaching. Yūta wonders if Hagu will be with Shinobu, but Shūji ignores him, making his way back to the hospital.

After spending the night with Shinobu, Hagu wakes up and sees her right hand swollen, frightening her. Shinobu takes her back to the hospital, meeting up with Shūji. Yūta encounters Shinobu outside the hospital. Yūta takes Shinobu to Hagu place, que'sstioning himself if Hagu will be able to paint again. Shūji visits Hagu again, and Hagu asks if Shūji can give up his life for her, and Shūji reluctantly accepts. Hagu reminisces about the time she was with Shūji when she was younger. Shūji was always with her. Yūta and Shinobu wake up early in the morning. Yūta and Shinobu soon begin to fight over Hagu, but soon reconcile. Shinobu delivers a box to Shūji, but Shūji only takes some money and gives the box back to Shinobu. Shūji admits his love for Hagu.

Ayumi questions Shūji's love for Hagu. Takumi is happy for Shūji for admitting his love for Hagu. Ayumi regrets telling Shinobu about Hagu's accident. Takumi explains to Ayumi that Hagu had art as a part of her life, so her love for Shinobu was uncertain in the past. Shūji prepares to take a break from teaching, and then tells Rika about it. Rika explains to Shūji that Takumi scolded her about Shūji. Kaoru feels guilty for allowing the former boss of Floyd Electric to live with his children and grandchildren. Hagu compares Ayumi to a dove, and Hagu would want to make origami doves for Ayumi. Shinobu tells Kaoru about the fun employees and about the strong Hagu. Everyone celebrates the graduation of Yūta and Hagu. This will be the last night before Yūta leaves. Yūta and Hagu are sent to buy ice cream. Hagu worries about Shūji, but Yūta tells her not to worry. As Yūta leaves on a train, Hagu bids him farewell, giving him some bread. Within each sandwich, a four-leaf clover is seen.
